About Abalone Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

Abalone bed and breakfast loungeAbalone at Croft Feach is a large modern property in a rural area set its own grounds of 48 acres with its own airstrip designed for Microlight aircraft (known as Culbokie Airfield) on the beautiful Black Isle, it enjoys spectacular uninterrupted views south towards  Strathconon , west across the Cromarty Firth towards Ben Wyvis and north towards the Fyrish monument

Croft Feach is a very beautiful family home, which is bright, spacious, quiet and welcoming. 

Our guests have the opportunity to enjoy our very large lounge where there is a wood burning stove and large TV, if however you wish to enjoy a leisurely game of chess or play cards all are provided, if none of these appeal to you just sit back and enjoy the wonderful view from the comfort of our lounge.

On the patio our visitors can sit and enjoying the wonderful view.

There are many species of wild life around this very beautiful location, Red Kites and Buzzards can be seen soaring above Croft Feach, there is also an Osprey locally. There are Red Foxes, Wild Deer, Pheasants, Red Squirrels, Scottish Wildcat, and Pine Martens.  On the Cromarty Firth and Moray Firth Bottlenose dolphins and the Common Seal can be seen. At Chanonry Point you will often be able to see Bottlenose dolphins up close. Munlochy Bay is ideal for Bird watching.

Abalone at Croft Feach is ideal for those wishing to spend some quality time in a peaceful location, or it is equally good for those wishing to visit Inverness and Dinwall for shopping, Aviemore for Skiing or walking in the mountains.

 

We welcome dogs to Abalone but ask that owners follow these rules for the comfort of everyone: 

Please DO NOT

  1. allow your dog on or in the beds and furniture
  2. take your dog into the dining room
  3. leave your dog unattended in any room at any time
  4. allow your dog to roam free in the house
  5. feed your dog indoors
Dogs can be walked in the fields adjacent to house or in the nearby forest

Getting there from the Information Centre Inverness by Car

The GPS navigational code is 57° 35.13N - 004 19.07W. 

From the Tourist Information Centre in Inverness, follow the signs for the A9, stay on the A9 north, cross the Kessock bridge, travel on to the Tore roundabout where you take the 3rd exit towards Wick. 

Carry on until you see a sign for Culbokie. Turn right here. After a short distance, turn right towards Knockbain/Munlochy. Stay on this road for 1.1 mile until you reach a B&B sign, take this driveway to Abalone. 

Getting There by Car from Ullapool and Dingwall

The GPS navigational code is 57° 35.13N - 004 19.07W. 

From Ullapool take the A835 towards Garve, from Garve head towards Contin from here to Dingwall on the A834. Go through the town of Dingwall towards the north and join the A9 road. Head in the direction of Inverness across the Cromarty Bridge, from the bridge travel approximately two miles till you see a sign for Culbokie. Turn left here. After a short distance, turn right towards Knockbain/Munlochy. Stay on this road for 1.1 mile until you reach the B&B sign for Abalone and Culbokie Airfield, take this driveway to Abalone and Culbokie Airfield. 

Getting There by Car from the Isle of Skye bridge and Kyle of Lochalsh

From the Skye bridge and Kyle of Lochalsh on the A87 head towards Auchrtertre, from here turn left onto A890 towards Stromeferry, Attadale, Strathcarron and on to Garve. From here head towards Dingwall. Go through the town of Dingwall towards the north and join the A9 road. Head in the direction of Inverness across the Cromarty Bridge, from the bridge travel approximately two miles till you see a sign for Culbokie. Turn left here. After a short distance, turn right towards Knockbain/Munlochy. Stay on this road for 1.1 mile until you reach the B&B sign for Abalone and Culbokie Airfield, take this driveway to Abalone and Culbokie Airfield. 

Getting There by Railway

It is possible to take the train to Dingwall where we can collect you and transport you to Abalone and Culbokie Airfield.

Getting there by Air

The GPS navigational code is 57° 35.13N - 004 19.07W. 

Abalone has its own airfield know as Culbokie Airfield, a 500-meter landing strip, which has been designed for Microlight aircraft.  The strip is grass and runs East-West; with secondary strip of 190m x 12m (grass runs E-W) and so it is possible to flight directly into Culbokie Airfield. Phone ahead for Prior Permission is Essential as this is a private strip.

From Inverness Airport take the A96 to Inverness. When you reach the 2nd roundabout join the A9 Northbound, stay on the A9 north, cross the Kessock bridge, travel on to the Tore roundabout where you take the 3rd exit off the roundabout towards Wick. Carry on until you see a sign for Culbokie. Turn right here and after a short distance, turn right towards Knockbain/Munlochy. Stay on this road for 1.1 mile until you reach a B&B sign, take this driveway to Abalone.
